A Cracking Good Idea!

After watching the first chick hatch, we wrote about what it might feel like to be the first chick out!
We used three of our senses... hearing, feeling and seeing because we thought that those would be the senses the chick may have used as it tried to peck its way out of the egg. We included Maori words from our Word Wall too!

Cooking Pancakes

After we read Cooking Pancakes and Surprise Pancakes for Mum, we wanted to make pancakes ourselves. We learned to match illustrations with text and follow instructions, to make these yummy blueberry pancakes!

Talking Fractions

Students in the Yelllow and Blue groups talked FRACTIONS this week, and learned to use 'th' words... hard to say with an 's' on the end... try saying TWELFTHS!

How many eighths are blue?
What are these fractions called?
Three quarters of the whole is yellow.
How many tenths are purple?

Concentric Circles... Kandinsky-style!

We painted concentric circles in the style of
Wassily Kandinsky - we had fun taking a few RISKS... mixing colours - then we used the circles to show ourselves at the centre of our BIGGER families!

Exploring Fractions

We started by making halves and quarters, then used our prior knowledge about halving, to make other fractions of a whole, like eighths... and even sixteenths!
